for cooks young and old.

A comic ITALIAN cookbook? Dreams really do come true in The Silver Spoon Kitchen's, Chop Sizzle Wow: The Silver Spoon Comic Cookbook which includes 50 classic Italian recipes that are easy enough for the little ones to help make. Every recipe is impressively illustrated step-by-step in comic book style, which makes everything extra fun. The Silver Spoon Kitchen leaves nothing out, sharing recipes like bruschetta, pizza margherita, and tiramisu. My favorite? The gnocchi hands down.

from ebook to paperback.

The comic strip series surrounding the life of eleven-year-old Nate Wright can now be found in paperback. Big Nate's Greatest Hits by the very funny Lincoln Peirce is officially available tomorrow, and I'm pretty excited about it. I am a huge fan of comic strips because they get kids reading. And this is a comic strip for the middle grades which makes it even better. Here's a little taste of the funny...

Big Nate is a sarcastic, self-proclaimed genius, and this series is all about his life as a sixth grade boy including family (he lives with his single dad and older sister, keeping very much with the times), best friends, school, girls, grades, and all the angst. There are adventures and misadventures. It's the best kids comic strip collection out there hands down, parents will find the humor as well.

sunday funny teasury.

I love comic strips. They are the perfect reading material for those who lack any real attention span, and the bestselling comic strip Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis never fails to amuse readers. His latest collection, Pearls Falls Fast continues to tell the story of the animal gang we have come to know and love (even the snarky rat) over the last two years. Pastis knack for witty one liners and shameless puns is what makes him one of the best comic strip writers ever.

laugh it off mom and dad.

I reviewed a Baby Blues comic collection back in October, but it is really nothing compared to the enormous BBXX: Baby Blues: Decades 1 & 2 by the ever popular Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott released last month to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this beloved comic strip.

.

Kirkman and Scott share personal biographies and reflections, never-before-published drawings, and photographs, along with close to 800 of the best of the best Baby Blues strips from the last two decades. As most of you know, the comic follows the very relatable young parents Darryl and Wanda MacPherson as they raise children Zoe, Hammie, and Baby Wren. This family faces the most common of life lessons that are sure to put a smile on even the most overwhelmed parent's face.

the chaotic lives of parents.

I've never actually been a parent, but from what I've seen, it doesn't exactly look like a relaxing, easy breezy, stress free way of life. Manfriend and I went to Wal-Mart on Saturday, and as soon as you walk through the sliding doors you can already hear the screaming. On our way out, of course we passed a family who's children were beautifully behaved. You know, the kind of children that make you think that parenting may not be the worst idea ever. For the record, I'm still not entirely interested.

To keep yourselves sane, you parents need to laugh it off a little bit. That's where Scribbles at an Exhibition: Baby Blues Scrapbook 29 comes in. Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott have compiled illustrations of the trials and tribulations of parenthood. You overwhelmed parents will get a kick out of these funnies.

comic strips for the little ones.

The instant I saw the title The Mighty Alice, I had to have this book. You see, my grandma’s name is Alice and let me tell you, she is quite the mighty lady. I am freakishly close with her; if you think hanging out every single night of the week for approximately three hours is freakish. Whatever, I’m sure it’s normal. I'm going to give you a little example of the grandma Alice "might" which can also be construed as the grandma Alice crazy.

Yup, my grandma started smoking in her hospital room after undergoing knee replacement surgery. And people wonder where my crazy comes from. Exhibit A, friends.

The Mighty Alice: A Cul de Sac Collection by Richard Thompson is a comic strip that follows the very mischievous four-year-old, Miss Alice Otterloop. Apparently Alice is well-known for her adventurous spirit as well as her tendency to be a bit odd. Thompson does an excellent job getting into the head of a four-year-old. It’s a very cute “funny” for your preschoolers. And if your little nuggets enjoy this collection, good news, there are three more.

a friday funny.

Ah, you hear that? It sounds like Friday, or rain, or both. Now let’s all be honest for a second and admit that there is at least one person at your workplace that you cannot stand. This doesn’t make you a bad person, I can’t stand most people and I am down right lovely. That being said, each and every one of us can relate to the Dilbert comics. For the babies, Dilbert comics debuted in 1989 and still hit the comic’s page today. Scott Adams illustrated the strip while slaving away at his desk in the tech department at Pacific Bell. He wrote it for the people. Those who are wasting their lives away at a 9-5 job they hate. Dilbert is a lot like how Adams used to be, before he voluntarily got laid off.

In a nutshell, Dilbert is filled with characters that exist in every office. The guy who never does anything, the boss that irritates everyone. Teamwork Means You Can’t Pick The Side That’s Right is a collection of Dilbert comics strips from February 13, 2011 to November 20, 2011. Ultimately these funnies just poke fun at corporate America, and I won’t argue with that.

one of the best cartoonists working today.

I love when the Sunday funnies are actually funny. That being said, I love the Stephan Pastis Pearls Before Swine comic strips. Because Sometimes You Just Gotta Draw A Cover With Your Left Hand is a graphic novel compiled from the strips that ran between the summer of 2009 and the spring of 2010, and the gangs all here with their fabulous one liners that will definitely get a chuckle out of you.

For those you who are not familiar with this popular comic strip, let me give you a little taste of Pastis’ more recent work:

It's a cute kind of funny, am I right?
